- ... A UV indicator/dosimeter based on benzyl viologen (BV²⁺) encapsulated in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is described. Upon exposure to UV light, the BV²⁺/PVA film turns a striking purple colour due to the formation of the cation radical, BV•⁺.
