- Abstract:
- ... In this paper, the effects of cerium oxide nanoparticles (CeO₂ NPs) on the group bacterial behaviors were elaborated. After 36-h cultivation, the biofilm biomass was enhanced by the sub-lethal concentrations of 0.5 and 2 mg/L CeO₂ NP exposure. Meanwhile, the promoted production of total amino acids in microbes further resulted in the increased surface hydrophobicity and percentage aggregation. To ...

- Abstract:
- ... In this study, the biofilm formation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in the presence of cerium oxide nanoparticles (CeO₂ NPs) was investigated. With the addition of 0.1 mg/L and 1 mg/L CeO₂ NPs, the biofilm development was substantially enhanced. During the attachment process, the enhanced surface hydrophobicity and excess production of mannosan and rhamnolipids in CeO₂ NP treatments were detected, whic ...

- Abstract:
- ... Bisphenol A (BPA) and 4-nonylphenol (NP) are ubiquitous pollutants with estrogenic activity in aquatic environment and have attracted global concern due to their disruption of endocrine systems. This study investigated the spatial distribution characteristics of the bacterial groups involved in the degradation of BPA and NP within biofilms in an urban river using terminal restriction fragment leng ...

- Abstract:
- ... The impacts of CuO nanoparticle (NP) exposure on total nitrogen (TN) removal in a sequencing batch biofilm reactor (SBBR) as well as the effects of natural organic matter (NOM) in wastewater were studied. Short-term exposure (8 h) to 1 and 50 mg/L CuO NPs induced negligible influence on the nitrogen removal efficiency, and biofilms could recover from the slight damage caused by the prolonged expos ...
