- The article presents a study which aims to compare development and reproductive success of Frankliniella occidentalis and Frankliniella tritici. Researchers placed newly emerged adult females individually in small Petri dishes containing a piece of green bean to determine female adult longevity and fecundity. They found that both species indicated similar patterns in development and reproduction. However, median development time for immatures of F. tritici was 1 d faster for F. occidentalis. They also found no difference in total progeny production.
