- Development of axillary shoots was induced in embryonic axes of the dipterocarp Shorea roxburghii G. Don. cultured on a modified MS medium containing 6-benzyl-aminopurine (BAP) at an optimum concentration of 5 mg I−1. Excised axillary shoots were used in multiplication and rooting experiments. Vigorous root development occurred in shoots supported on filter paper bridges in liquid medium containing naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) and indolebutyric acid (IBA) (0.1 mg I−1 each).
