- Abstract:
- Pollination by honeybees increased the average weight and the quality of cucumbers (Cucumis sativus) inside caged plots, compared with plants in cages excluding most pollinators. The sugar concentration of the nectar was about 40%. Honeybees collected nectar from cucumbers throughout the day, with peak activity at about 11.00 and 14.30 h. Honeybees were the principal pollinators, but 37 other insect species of 5 orders also visited the plants.
