Improved CRC Based Disparity Estimation of Vision System Using Local Adaptive Hue Census and Mean Shift Clustering

Abstract:
One of the key issues of stereo matching is the identification of corresponding pixels between stereo pairs. Several real time systems developed based on correlation models, still exhibit blurred borders and finer details distortions. This work proposes a new adaptive method which integrates hue based census transform with bilinear interpolation to attain accurate matching. Different weights were assigned to pixels in support window based on their color and spatial distances. Global mean shift approach was applied to obtain high confidence disparity map. Incorrect matches and enhances disparity were reduced with the help of cyclic redundancy check approach. Finally, triangulation was used to generate an effective 3D view. Simulation results generated a better disparity (nearly 85 %) with minimum mismatches than existing approaches.
