- A versatile data acquisition system was developed for measuring and controlling various activities on an over-the-row apple harvester. The system recorded signals from a variety of sensors including force, pressure, flow, and acceleration. Data were stored on magnetic bubble cassette for transfer to a development system located in the laboratory. The development system performed all data handling duties by reading data from the bubble cassette, storing it on floppy disk for temporary storage and later transferring it to a minicomputer for further data analysis. In addition to data handling, the development system was used to develop data collection algorithms which were eventually stored on EPROMS and mounted in the mobile system.
