Abstract:
A microcomputer software program was developed to improve the real-time management of irrigation distribution systems. The program includes a hydraulic model for a branching distribution network and a pump selection algorithm for recommending least cost pump combinations at each pump station in the network. The program has been field tested on a 4 800 hectare farm in north central Oregon. Simulation results are presented which show the potential value of using the program.
