Remarkable multimember-ring configurations in a new family of Na₇MᴵᴵSb₅S₁₂ (Mᴵᴵ = Zn, Cd, Hg) exhibiting various three-dimensional tunnel structures

Abstract:
A new family of Na₇MᴵᴵSb₅S₁₂ (Mᴵᴵ = Zn, Cd and Hg) are the first examples exhibiting the unusual 12 + 12 multimember-ring (MR) configuration and an interesting (Mᴵᴵ/Sb)₃S₉ trimer. Moreover, ELF and EDD calculations also reveal that the tetrahedral configurations for the Mᴵᴵ/Sb atoms are reasonable and their large birefringences originate from the stereochemically active lone pair effect of the Sb atoms.
