Vitamin k Deficiency In 'SPF' Rats
- Gaunt, I. F., Lane-Petter, W.
- Laboratory animals 1967 v.1 no.2 pp. 147-150
- bacterial contamination, diet, hemorrhage, laboratory animals, microorganisms, rats, vitamin K
- Extensive haemorrhage which could be prevented by vitamin K, or by bacterial contamination of the animals, has been reported in germ-free rats fed purified diets by Gustafsson (1959a; 1959b). As far as we are aware a similar vitamin K deficiency has not previously been reported in rats of limited microflora ('SPF').
