Two New Phenolic Glycosides from Viburnum melanocarpum

Abstract:
Two new phenolic glycosides 1 and 2 were isolated from the ethanolic extract of Viburnum melanocarpum P.S. Hsu and identified as (7R,8S)-syringylglycerol 8-O-β-D-allopyranoside (1) and (7S,8S)-syringylglycerol 8-O-β-D-allopyranoside (2). Their structures, including absolute configurations, were determined by spectroscopic data (¹H and ¹³C NMR, HSQC, HMBC, and ORD) and chemical methods. In addition, compounds 1 and 2 were assayed for their free radical scavenging and α-glucosidase inhibitory activities.
