- A novel bioelectrochemical method for denitrification was developed using electricity as the electron donor. The novel electrode contained both Ochrobactrum anthropi SY509, which was permeabilized as a biocatalyst, and copper powder as a conducting material. Using this electrode, a high denitrification efficiency of 1 mmol N-NO ₃ ⁻ /g dry cell·h was achieved via direct electron transfer without using mediator.
