Procedure for in-fly particle temperature detection under combustion conditions

- The experimental test rig for evaluating the diameter and mass loss of burning pulverized coal char particles has been extended by providing in-fly particle temperature measurement technique based on two-color pyrometry. Due to the use of two fast cameras it was possible to detect temperature simultaneously with particle tracking in test chamber. The proper resolution of the cameras and focal length of the lenses allow to measure temperature distribution at the surface of individual particles. Procedures for calibration and temperature measurements have been developed and described. Preliminary measurements were made for two types of coal (lignite and hard coal) in two oxygen concentrations (15% and 21%) and gas temperature of 1000∘C.
